Hello. I'm Carys, a UKCP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and certified Neuro Linguisic Programming coach. I provide long and short term emotional well being support for adults, young people and children.
There are many interventions for people suffering with emotional difficulties but the one thing I hear time and time again from clients of all ages is, "Thank you for listening to me." Human beings thrive on connection and it is so important for us to feel listened to, seen and appreciated for who we are.
My approach is integrative, relational and developmental.
I am an integrative therapist, which means that I have access to a toolbox full of therapeutic techniques and psychological theories developed through my professional training and experience and can adapt my knowledge and experience to meet your individual needs.
Relational means the therapeutic relationship is at the core of our work together and is what provides you with the support to heal and grow and to feel safe to be, and sometimes to discover, your true self in a nurturing space, where you are fully accepted for being you.
A developmental approach means we consider your development over the course of your lifetime and how that might be affecting your 'here and now' experience.
I provide the time, space and safety to really receive your individual experience and to bear witness to whatever thoughts and feelings you may bring to our sessions. This then allows us to work together to facilitate change on an emotional, cognitive and behavioural level.

How we work together
When you get in touch we'll arrange an initial session. This will be an exploratory chat, as a first step towards working together. If you are enquiring about support for your child, we would usually organise a parent/carer phone or video call prior to arranging an initial session with your child. I will also send you an agreement document, which outlines my policies on confidentiality, payment and cancellations.
The speed of results will depend on the issues we're working on. Sometimes change can happen quickly and sometimes more gradually, over a longer period of time, so we would usually commit to working for a minimum of 6 sessions at the outset.
I work face to face from my quiet, private rooms in Denbigh and I also work online with adolescent and adult clients.
All work is confidential and I am bound by the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
